Our Mission

Earth Focus aims to help the public better understand a complex and changing environment.

Our History

Earth Focus was developed for Link TV by Earth Focus Productions, an independent company based in Potomac, Maryland. Since 2006, Earth Focus has been broadcast in prime time weekly on Link TV a national independent non commercial network available 24/7 on DIRECTV (Channel 375) and the DISH Network (Channel 9410) After the 2012 merger of Link TV and KCET, the nation’s largest independent public television station, Earth Focus was also picked up for broadcast in prime time on KCET in Southern California.


Meet Our Team

Raisa Scriabine

Series Producer

Raisa Scriabine developed the Earth Focus series in 2006 and has served as series producer ever since. She is a specialist in environmental and public health communication who has worked for USAID, The World Conservation Union (IUCN), the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and as a consultant to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, UNICEF, UNAIDS, WHO and John Snow.

Miles Benson

Senior Correspondent

Miles Benson has contributed to Earth Focus as a reporter and content editor on global environmental issues for eight years. Previously a nationally syndicated print journalist, he joined Earth Focus after a 50-year career in New York and WashingtonDC where he covered national politics, Congress, the White House and public policy issues for the Newhouse newspaper group.

Toni Lindsay Genberg

Senior Video Editor

Toni Lindsay Genberg is a freelance video editor with three decades of experience in both long and short-form production. She has been a senior member of the Earth Focus broadcast team since 2010. A Virginia Master Naturalist and an ever-evolving environmentalist, Ms. Genberg has a genuine protective passion for the earth and all of its inhabitants.

Jamey Warner

Producer, Editor and Cinematographer

Jamey Warner is a producer, editor and cinematographer for Earth Focus. He is a Center Scholar with the Center for Environmental Filmmaking at American University, and an adjunct professor leading the School of Communication’s Classroom in the Wild: Chesapeake Bay course where students are taught the fundamentals of shooting in the wild. He is also an award-winning photographer, and was recently featured in a juried, international photo exhibition at the University of the District of Columbia. Jamey is a Marine Corps combat veteran and former reconnaissance platoon commander.

Chris Palmer

Media Advisor

Chris Palmer is a professor, speaker, author, and film producer. He is president of the One World One Ocean Foundation, which produces and funds IMAX films on ocean conservation, and he is Distinguished Film Producer in Residence at American University, where he founded and directs the Center for Environmental Filmmaking. His book “Shooting in the Wild” has been made into a film for public television. His new book Confessions of a Wildlife Filmmaker was published in 2015.

Jeffrey Barbee

Photojournalist

Jeffrey Barbee is a photojournalist and award-winning film producer and director. He works for the UK Guardian, Global Post, LinkTV and Reuters News Service reporting on climate change. His work also appears in the New York Times, the BBC, NOS Tv Holland, Smithsonian Magazine, RTL News, PBS, CBS, Al Jazeera, Time Magazine, Newsweek, Vanity Fair and others.

Ecologist Film Unit

Established in 2008 as a partnership between the world famous Ecologist magazine (now Resurgence & Ecologist) and Ecostorm, the Ecologist Film Unit (EFU) is an independent, not-for-profit news organization dedicated to investigative reporting on the environment, food and farming, health and wildlife issues. The EFU produces original investigative content for broadcast, print and online output, and work with external media outlets and partners to maximize impact and exposure.

Constantino de Miguel

Foreign Correspondent

Constantino de Miguel has produced a number of feature stories for Earth Focus from Germany, France, Japan and Ecuador. During his 30 years career as international journalist, Constantino has worked for Radio Nederland (Dutch World Service), Euronews TV and CCTV News China as well as as a foreign correspondent for Spanish newspapers. He is based in Lyon, France.
